DSM-5-TR Neurodevelopmental Disorders in the U.S. in 2025: Updated Diagnostic Criteria, Prevalence, and Treatment Innovations
Neurodevelopmental disorders continue to play a significant role in the U.S. mental and behavioral health landscape in 2025. With rising diagnostic awareness, improved screening tools, and evolving treatment approaches, the DSM-5-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Text Revision) provides the most current framework clinicians use to diagnose and understand these conditions. Neurodevelopmental disorders appear early in life, typically before the child enters grade school, and often involve developmental deficits affecting personal, social, academic, or occupational functioning.
